Ted Cruz Finally Pulls Campaign Ad that indiscriminately kills Children

Win McNamee/Getty Images

Five days after being asked and being aired nationally during sports events, the Cruz campaign finally pulled two anti-trans ads that used the images of two Oregon cisgender minors without parental consent.

In both ads, two Oregon students are pictured at a track meet. One ad includes messaging that claims Cruz’s challenger, U.S. Rep. Colin Allred, "voted to allow boys in girls’ sports." The second ad reads, "Boys in girls' sport." The ads that ran during NFL games didn't identify the students as either transgender or cisgender.

The Oregon-based school district where they attend class responded in a letter to the Cruz campaign, writing, "It is alarming that your campaign would have produced/distributed/promoted this ad with false information, especially with minor children involved."

As most know Texas long ago banned transgender students from playing in sports and enacted other anti-trans laws raising the suicide rate amongst trans youth to as much as 72% when compared to states that haven't passed such laws. The Cruz campaign most likely used the Oregon children's images because there aren't any transgender youth left to play sports in Texas.

Cruz is not unique in using transgender people as political pawns. Erin Reed reports that over 100 Republicans Are Running On Anti-Trans Platforms In 2024.

However, Ted Cruz is unique in that he doesn't seem to care if it is a cisgender or transgender child who dies as a result of his campaign messaging.

It really fucking sucks to watch any sports event as a trans person right now because of the Trump commercials, and I just need everyone to know that: yes, we do see the ads, and it's demoralizing to know this entire subset of people sees us as subhuman.

Cruz’s campaign had not responded to the school district as of Monday, the district said. However, a spokesperson with the senator’s camp confirmed to Chron that the ads were no longer on the air.

Trump is a Fascist: 13 former Trump Officials Back General Kelly's Claim

John Kelly / Department of Homeland Security

Thirteen former Trump top administration officials and aids have backed General Kelly's claim that Trump meets the definition of a Fascist.

John F Kelly is a retired U.S. Marine Corps general who served as the White House chief of staff for then-President Donald Trump from 2017 to 2019. He had previously been Secretary of Homeland Security in the Trump administration.

I have been calling Trump a fascist ever since the infamous 2017 Unite The Right Rally when then-President Donald Trump condemned the "display of hatred, bigotry, and violence on many sides."

This first statement and his subsequent defenses of it, in which he also referred to "very fine people on both sides", imply a moral equivalence between the white supremacist protesters and the counter-protesters. Transgender folk in general are very thankful that the rest of the country has begun to understand the threat that Trump, a white man who is a self-identified nationalist, presents to our democracy.

All that Trump supporters can do is throw shade and gaslight...

“The revelations General Kelly brought forward are disturbing and shocking. But because we know Trump and have worked for and alongside him, we were sadly not surprised by what General Kelly had to say,” the letter states.

“We applaud General Kelly for highlighting in stark details the danger of a second Trump term. Like General Kelly, we did not take the decision to come forward lightly. We are all lifelong Republicans who served our country. However, there are moments in history where it becomes necessary to put country over party. This is one of those moments” the letter shared with Politico states. “Everyone should heed General Kelly’s warning.”

The letter was signed by Trump administration officials, including Kevin Carroll, former senior counselor to Kelly; former deputy press secretary Sarah Matthews; former assistant secretary of homeland security Elizabeth Neumann; former White House communications director Anthony Scaramucci; former chief of staff at the Dept. of Homeland Security Miles Taylor; former White House press secretary Stephanie Grisham; former press secretary to the vice president Alyssa Farah Griffin; and former national security adviser to vice president Pence, Olivia Troye.

Trump refuses to denounce multiple speakers racist speeches calling the MSG Rally a "Love fest"

The former president denied knowing the comedian who made a slew of racist, sexist and vulgar comments at his rally at Madison Square Garden, ABC News Senior Congressional Correspondent Rachel Scott reports.

That comedian, Tony Hinchcliffe, drew headlines in part for calling Puerto Rico an "island of floating garbage."

"I don't know him, someone put him up there. I don't know who he is," Trump told ABC's Scott.

Trump also insisted he didn't hear any of the comments, even as they've been played on television and written about extensively. When asked what he made of them, he did not take the opportunity to denounce them, repeating that he didn't hear the comments.

His campaign has said the comedian's comments don't reflect the views of Trump or the campaign.

Trump also expressed confidence that he will win the White House with just a week to go.

Whoopi: I Don't Like The Way *Trump* Talks to us, Gay Folk or To The Nation

After former Pres. Trump made claims on Joe Rogan's podcast about about past visit to #TheView Whoopi Goldberg and her fellow co-hosts weigh in with what really went down that day.

Rogan began the podcast by showing the wrong clip falsely claiming that the former president was greeted warmly by friendly hosts. The first time Trump visited The View was in 2011 when Trump was called out for his racist Obama birther lies

Whoopi: "HONEY, JOE, I THINK YOU MISSED THIS PART.TAKE A LOOK."

Trump: "I WANT HIM TO SHOW HIS BIRTH CERTIFICATE. THERE'S SOMETHING ON IT I DON'T LIKE."

Whoopi: "OH MY GOD."

Whoopi: "I THINK THAT'S THE BIGGEST PILE OF DOG MESS I'VE HEARD IN AGES.

Trump: "WHY NOT SHOW IT, RIGHT? THERE'S SOMETHING HE DOESN'T WANT TO SHOW."

Whoopi: "IT'S BECAUSE HE'S BLACK."

Trump: "LET HIM SHOW -- IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH IT."

Whoopi: WAS ANY WHITE PRESIDENT ASKED TO BE SHOWN THE BIRTH CERTIFICATE? YOU'RE A CITIZEN OF AMERICA. YOU KNOW THAT HE'S AMERICAN. I'M SORRY. THAT'S B.S.

Whoopi: "THIS SHOW HAS -- HAS ALLOWED ALL KINDS OF PEOPLE TO COME ON. PEOPLE WE AGREE WITH, PEOPLE WE DON'T AGREE WITH. I'VE NOT BEEN A FAN OF THIS MAN'S. I DON'T LIKE HOW HE TALKS TO US. I DON'T LIKE HOW HE TALKS TO THE NATION."

"SO I HAVE NOT REALLY HAD MUCH TO SAY UNTIL HE STARTED RUNNING FOR PRESIDENT. THEN I CAN SAY EVERYTHING I NEEDED TO SAY. MY FACE SAID EVERYTHING ELSE."

Ana: "YOU DISLIKED HIM FROM EVEN BEFORE -- EVEN BEFORE THAT WHEN YOU FIRST HAD AN ENCOUNTER WITH HIM."

Whoopi: "WELL, I JUST -- HE'S BEEN IN NEW YORK --"

Sunny: "YES."

Whoopi: "FOREVER. HE'S A NEW YORK PERSON, AND BEEN A NEW YORK CHARACTER, BUT BEING A CHARACTER ON TELEVISION IS A LOT DIFFERENT THAN BEING THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES BECAUSE WHAT YOU CAN'T DO AND WHAT THEY DID FOR YEARS, WHICH IS WHY PEOPLE GOT UP AND SAID, YOU CAN'T TALK TO ME LIKE THIS ANYMORE."

"YOU CAN'T TALK ABOUT ME LIKE THIS ANYMORE, AND PEOPLE SAID, OH.YOU KNOW, YOU'RE WOKE. WE HAVE NEVER BEEN ASLEEP. NO ONE'S EVER LET US SLEEP BECAUSE WE HAVE HAD TO KEEP --I'M SORRY, BABY."

"BECAUSE WE HAVE HAD TO KEEP REMINDING PEOPLE THAT WOMEN DON'T WANT TO BE SPOKEN DOWN TO."

Tony Hinchcliffe Racist Speech In Full at Trump MSG Rally

“I don’t know if you know this but there’s literally a floating island of garbage in the middle of the ocean right now. I think it’s called Puerto Rico,” Hinchcliffe told the crowd (you could literally hear the maga gasp), seguing to a racist trope about Black people “carving watermelon” for Halloween.

The mainstream media calls Tony Hinchcliffe a comedian who later claimed his comments were taken out of context. To be clear, Hinchcliffe is a racist, a white supremacist, who had no business addressing the public on behalf of any political candidate.

This morning America awakens to news that the Trump Campaign is trying to "distance" it from Hinchcliffe's racist speech. Notably, Trump isn't disavowing or condemning Hinchcliffe.

"A spokesperson for Donald Trump’s presidential campaign is attempting to distance the candidate from a racist joke about Puerto Rico made by comedian Tony Hinchcliffe, who spoke before the former president at his Madison Square Garden rally Sunday night. “I don’t know if you know this but there’s literally a floating island of garbage in the middle of the ocean right now. I think it’s called Puerto Rico,” Hinchcliffe told the crowd.

In response to the massive backlash to Hinchcliffe’s comments, which also included a racist trope about Black people “carving watermelon” for Halloween, Trump campaign senior adviser Danielle Alvarez told CNN political reporter Kate Sullivan, “This joke does not reflect the views of President Trump or the campaign.”

"Like the rest of the speakers who took the stage before Trump, Hinchcliffe’s remarks were pre-loaded into a teleprompter, indicating that they would likely have been vetted by the campaign in advance," notes The Daily Beast

Gov. Walz and @AOC react to this clip: “When you have some a-hole calling Puerto Rico ‘floating garbage,’ know that that's what they think about you. It's what they think about anyone who makes less money than them… I want every Puerto Rican in Philadelphia and Reading and across the country to see this clip”

Make no mistake, Hinchcliffe's microphone wasn't cut off, he remained on stage unhindered. Trump just called America a garbage dump. Hinchcliffe just took that a step further. This is how fascists work. They have someone else say the silent part first and take the fall for it. Once that disgusting part is normalized Trump if elected will take it further.

Odessa Texas Places a $10,000 Bounty on Transgender People who Use Public Restrooms

Jonathan Saenz, attorney and president of the anti-LGBTQ organization Texas Values (pictured) spoke for an hour and a half. In contrast, local citizens speaking against the ban were led away by police officers if they exceeded the normal three-minute limit.

Odessa Texas City Council passed an amendment Tuesday expanding a city ordinance banning transgender people from city-owned or leased restrooms.

The ban passed 5-2 Tuesday despite no evidence it was needed puts a $10,000 bounty on anyone suspected of being transgender.

Unlike the state, which tried unsuccessfully to ban trans people from public accommodations, the city is not exempt from being sued exposing it to massive legal liability.

Citizens objected vigorously during the council meeting, identifying the ban as fear-mongering led by extreme right-wing groups outside of Odessa.

Questions were also raised about the involvement of the Texas Values organization in the local ordinance. Eric Rogers, a concerned citizen, asked, “That’s interesting—he filled out a card, but we got three minutes while he spoke for what, an hour and a half? I’d love to know where he got that card.”

Jonathan Saenz, attorney and president of extreme right Texas Values organization, sidestepped questions on camera when asked by a reporter from News 7 if he was invited to speak by city council members and could not identify any person or organizations that asked him to intervene.

Council member Chris Hanie insisted he introduced the ordinance to protect the safety of his daughters and grandchildren, according to the Texas Tribune.

“There's never been fear. I don't care who you are, and what you do in the privacy of your home is your business, but I don't need to see it in public,” Hanie said.

Missouri AG in abortion pill lawsuit argues fewer teen pregnancies hurt state financially

 (Anna Moneymaker/Getty Images)

by Anna Spoerre, Missouri Independent
October 22, 2024

Missouri’s attorney general has renewed a push to restrict access to the abortion pill mifepristone, arguing in a lawsuit filed this month that its availability hurt the state by decreasing teenage pregnancy.

The revised lawsuit was filed by Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey, alongside GOP attorneys general in Kansas and Idaho. It asks a judge in Texas to order the Federal Drug Administration to reinstate restrictions on mifepristone, one of two medications prescribed to induce chemical abortions.

The trio of attorneys general were forced to refile the litigation after the U.S. Supreme Court rejected the original lawsuit after concluding the original plaintiffs — a group of anti-abortion doctors and medical organizations — did not have standing to sue because they couldn’t show they had been harmed.

In making the case that the states have standing this time, the attorneys general contend access to mifepristone has lowered “birth rates for teenaged mothers,” arguing it contributes to causing a population loss for the states along with “diminishment of political representation and loss of federal funds.”

“Younger women are more likely to navigate online abortion finders or websites ordering mail-order medication to self-manage abortions,” the filing argues.

Missouri’s teen pregnancy birth rate has steadily declined over the past several years, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, though it still remains among the highest in the country.

Let us know what you think...

The lawsuit demands the federal government restore its previous restrictions on mifepristone by requiring three in-person doctor visits, reducing the gestational period during which the medication can be taken from 10 weeks to seven and rolling back recent federal policy that allowed for the mailing of mifepristone and allowed for prescriptions to be made online or through pharmacies.

In a statement to The Independent, Bailey framed the lawsuit as an attempt to ensure “long-standing safety requirements” for use of mifepristone are put back in place.

“We are moving forward undeterred for the safety of women across the country,” Bailey said.

Molly Meegan, chief legal officer and general counsel with the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, said the latest legal attempt to reduce access to mifepristone is based on “out-of-date and unscientific federal restrictions.”

“Science has conclusively demonstrated that mifepristone is safe and effective, including when used as directed through telehealth, and that patients of any age who become pregnant and need medication abortion can safely use the combination regimen of mifepristone and misoprostol,” she said in a statement. ”Imposing needless barriers on mifepristone will make it harder for people to access this needed care—which of course is the point—and worsen existing health disparities.”

According to the FDA, mifepristone is safe to use if taken as directed. Cramping and bleeding are common side effects of the medication. Those prescribed mifepristone are urged to call their doctor if they experience heavy bleeding, abdominal pain or a fever. The same guidance applies to those who recently underwent surgical abortions, experienced miscarriages or delivered a baby.

Since the medication was approved for use 28 years ago, only 32 deaths have ever been reported associated with mifepristone, according to the FDA.

Bailey and his fellow GOP attorneys general, however, argue the drug is dangerous.

“The FDA has enabled online abortion providers to mail FDA-approved abortion drugs to women in states that regulate abortion — dispensing abortion drugs with no doctor care, no exam and no in-person follow-up care,” the attorneys general wrote in the amended lawsuit. “These dangerous drugs are now flooding states like Missouri and Idaho and sending women in these states to the emergency room.”

The filing also argues that the current regulations around mifepristone make it impossible to track and prevent medication abortions.

“All of this makes it difficult for state law enforcement to detect and deter state law violations and to give effect to state abortion laws,” the attorneys general wrote.

Lost revenue and fewer teen mothers

When the constitutional right to an abortion was overturned in June 2022, Missouri became the first state to enact a trigger law banning the procedure in all cases except for medical emergencies.

A decade ago, more than 5,000 abortions were performed in Missouri, according to data from the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services. By 2020, that number dropped to 167 due to a series of “targeted regulation of abortion providers” laws enacted by the legislature, including a mandatory 72-hour waiting period between the initial appointment and a surgical abortion and mandatory pelvic exams for medication abortions.

Between June 2022 and March 2024, only 64 abortions were performed in Missouri under the state’s emergency exemption, according to health department data.

Despite these laws, thousands of Missourians have still accessed abortion in the past two years, either by driving to clinics in Illinois and Kansas or by ordering abortion medication through the mail.

In the six months after the Supreme Court’s abortion ruling, the number of self-managed medication abortions rose by more than 26,000 across the U.S. according to a study published in JAMA, the American Medical Association’s journal.

The attorneys general in their filing attempt to estimate how many people may have undergone medication abortions in each state, and how many may have been on Medicaid.

Between April 2018 and August 2023, there were 438 abortion complication reports — including 186 from medication abortions — filed with Missouri’s health department, according to the litigation.

Abortion a key flashpoint in Missouri Senate race between Josh Hawley, Lucas Kunce

Bailey’s office estimates that just shy of 400,000 women and girls of reproductive age are eligible for Missouri Medicaid, and that about 13% of those individuals are enrolled in Medicaid.

Bailey raised these data points in an attempt to estimate how much abortion medication costs the state, noting that under the Emergency Medical Treatment and Active Labor Act, public hospitals must treat anyone who comes in for emergency care, regardless of their ability to pay.

“If a public hospital provides medical services for complications stemming from chemical abortions,” the filing reads, “and the state’s Medicaid program does not cover the full portion of the bill, the outstanding balance is a loss to the public hospital, which is itself an instrumentality of the state.”

The attorney general’s office also noted the “loss of potential population” that resulted from an increase in access to medication abortions among Missourians.

“Reflecting the ease of driving to another state to receive abortion drugs, it is estimated that just 2.4%of abortion-minded women were prevented from getting abortions in Missouri after Dobbs,” the attorneys general write in the filing.

Fewer abortions would have occurred, the attorneys general argue, if the FDA’s previous requirements were still in place.

Bailey made a similar argument last year while attempting to inflate the estimated cost of an abortion-rights ballot measure, saying it would cost the state $6.9 trillion in lost revenue. A judge rejected his claim.

The filing also pointed to a November 2023 study that found abortion bans didn’t result in an increase in teenage pregnancies that ended in births for those between the ages of 15 and 19.

The study attributed this in part to young people’s ability to find online abortion medication providers.

“This study thus suggests that remote dispensing of abortion drugs by mail, common carrier, and interactive computer service is depressing expected birth rates for teenaged mothers in Plaintiff States, even if other overall birth rates may have been lower than otherwise was projected,” the attorneys general wrote.

Decade long Study Shows 97% of Transgender Youth are happy with HRT

Trans families and allies protesting anti-trans laws/photo Kelli Busey / Planet Trans

A 10-year study of 220 adolescents who at 12 years of age were prescribed puberty blockers and or gender-affirming hormones indicates that 97% are satisfied with the results and continue with trans-affirming medical care.

The study published 10/21/2024 in the Journal of American Medical Association Pediatrics(JAMA) to determine Levels of Satisfaction and Regret With Gender-Affirming Medical Care in Adolescents, was first reported on by Erin in the Morning, who noted that it "is likely to become the most significant pieces of evidence countering critics who argue for banning transgender care."

Key Points:

  • Question  How satisfied and/or regretful are youth after receiving puberty blockers and/or hormones provided as part of their gender-affirming medical care?
  • Findings  In this survey study, the experiences of 220 youths who had accessed puberty blockers or hormones were detailed by the youth and/or their parents as part of an ongoing decade-long study of transgender youth. At a mean of 4.86 years after beginning blockers and 3.40 years after beginning hormones, they reported very high levels of satisfaction and low levels of regret; the overwhelming majority (97%) continued to access gender-affirming medical care.
  • Meaning  The findings suggest that most youth accessing gender-affirming medical care in adolescence are highly satisfied.

Of these 220 respondents in the main sample, 9 were regretful of having received blockers (n = 8) and/or hormones (n = 3; 2 of these individuals reported regret with both), of whom 4 have stopped all gender-affirming medical care and 1 has continued to receive blockers but plans to stop. The 4 others have continued care, suggesting that regret is not synonymous with stopping care.

Tim Walz defines what the Harris-Walz administration will do to protect trans youth

Photo / Kamala Harris/ Meet Tim Walz

With less than a month until the 2024 presidential election, Vice President Kamala Harris has been much quieter on LGBTQ+ issues than she has throughout her storied political career. Despite presenting a robust slate of LGBTQ+ policies in 2020, Harris has seldom addressed queer and trans equality on the campaign trail, and her current LGBTQ+ platform is far more modest.

This left the trans community feeling vulnerable while under the vicious attack by the Republicans. We had begun to wonder if the Harris-Walz would be just another do-nothing Democrat administration.

Listen to Democrat Vice President nominee Tim Walz on the We Can Do Hard Things podcast as he is questioned about what he envisions the Harris-Walz will do to protect trans youth. Granted he doesn't craft the agenda but he was selected by Kamala Harris for a reason.

As first reported by LGBTQ Nation:

Minnesota Governor Tim Walz answered questions the other Democrats sidestepped including:

  • WHO should be making decisions about women's bodies;
  • HOW the Harris-Walz administration plans to protect queer kids and feed all kids; and
  • WHAT they'll do to make our schools safe from gun violence.

“We need to appoint judges who uphold the right to marriage, uphold the right to be who you are, making sure that’s the case, uphold the right to get the medical care that you need,” Walz said. “We should not be naive. Those appointments are really, really important. I think that’s what the vice president is committed to.”

He then pivoted to talking about the harms that anti-trans ads shown across the country have been doing. Such ads have been a strong focus of former President Donald Trump while campaigning as the Republican presidential nominee.

“We see it now: The hate has shifted to the trans community,” Walz said. “They see that as an opportunity. If you’re watching any sporting events right now, you see that Donald Trump’s closing arguments are to demonize a group of people for being who they are.”

We’re out there trying to make the case that access to healthcare, a clean environment, manufacturing jobs, and keeping your local hospital open are what people are really concerned about,” he continued. “They’re running millions of dollars of ads demonizing folks who are just trying to live their lives.”

EU High Court Rules that Denying Trans Healthcare to Prisoners is a violation of their human rights

Image by Ka Schmitz | Pudelskern Source

In a Major Win for trans rights, the EU High Court ruled that denying transgender prisoners HRT is a violation of their human rights.

The European Court of Human Rights ruled in the case of W.W. vs Poland that denying hormone replacement therapy (HRT) to a trans woman in a Polish prison violated her rights under Article 8 of the European Convention on Human Rights. This decision is a major win for trans people in prison, who often face barriers to trans-specific healthcare, reports Transgender Europe (TGEU)

Key takeaways:

  • First of its kind: This ruling marks the first time the Court has explicitly recognized the importance of HRT for trans people in prison, affirming it as essential, life-saving healthcare.
  • A positive step for trans rights: The decision underscores that States are obliged to provide access to necessary trans-specific healthcare, including in prison settings.
  • A need for systemic change: The case reveals the systemic barriers and discrimination faced by trans people in prison, from delays in accessing care to the broader issue of transphobia within institutions.

Court Ruling A "Monumental Victory" for Transgender Rights in the European Union

Photo / IGLA

The European Union Court of Justice ruled yesterday that a transgender man with dual citizenship must have his legal identity recognized by both countries.

Arian Mirzarafie-Ahi, a transgender man with Romanian and British citizenship, filed a first-of-its-kind lawsuit in Romania against Romanian authorities over their refusal to recognize his male name and gender identity acquired in the United Kingdom (while still treated as an EU Member State). The lawsuit, which raised fundamental questions under EU law, was referred to the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU) in Luxembourg, according to a press release from the IGLA.

TGEU Expert Advisor, Richard KΓΆhler, said in a joint statement with the IGLA: “The CJEU’s ruling in the Mirin case is a monumental victory for trans people in Europe! Arian was forced to navigate a legal nightmare, facing the prospect of conflicting passports and demands for sterilisation to match his legal gender on Romanian and UK documents. Member States must recognise each other’s decisions—this is about equality and dignity. Romania, it’s time to act: Arian deserves his passport now, and the country needs a legal framework for recognising foreign gender identities.”

ILGA-Europe’s Senior Strategic Litigation, Marie-HΓ©lΓ¨ne Ludwig added: “Today’s ruling confirms that without mutual recognition of legal gender recognition from one Member State to another, the right to freedom of movement and residence is not guaranteed for trans people in the EU. It is a great victory that shows the power of strategic litigation in the EU. This judgement will have an immensely positive impact, increasing legal protection for all trans people in the EU, all the more as certain EU countries like Romania still do not provide a legal framework for legal gender recognition conforming with European Court of Human Rights’ standards.”

Fact Check: Texas DPS Isn't currently reverting Gender Markers On Driver Licenses of Transgender residents

Photo / DPS website

A poorly written headline of an article by Erin Reed on Substack suggests that the Department of Public Safety (DPS) may be reverting the gender maker on transgender Texans' driver's licenses. This added undue stress to many in the community who trust Reed explicitly most of whom don't read past the headline.

That headline stopped me, a transgender Texan, from reading the article but for other reasons. Having previously read the letter from McCraw and being well-informed about the process, that headline looked like clickbait and honestly, my stress level is high enough already.

As you know the DPS without allowing for a public comment period as required changed a major department policy on August 20, 2024.

Nearly a month later Texas DPS Director Steven McCraw sent a letter to Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton asking if the DPS has the authority to ignore court orders and revert driver licenses to the sex they were before they were changed. The first three questions in the letter are all telling:

McCraw inadvertently pointed out in the letter that they didn't have legal or a legislative mandate to stop accepting court-ordered gender marker changes presently, so how could the DPS change drivers' licenses that had already been changed?" Paxton may have told him to do that, and McCraw, now retiring, passed the buck back to his boss.

I know cruelty is the point for Paxton. He has played a part in raising the suicide rate of transgender people living in Republican states to 7-72% higher in comparison to Democrat-governed states. It doesn't matter to him if his attacks on minorities ultimately fail. To Paxton, cruelty is the point.

Texas DPS isn't accepting court orders changing gender markers and yes, the DPS is keeping a list of those who were in the process of doing it.  But no, Texas isn't currently reverting Gender Markers On Driver Licenses of Transgender residents.

Now look for the Legislature to pass a bill in the upcoming session defining sex. They have tried and failed to do that in the past sessions. They must also pass a bill directing the DPS to act on Governor Gregg Abbott's insatiable hatred of diversity. That is likely what the DPS needs to begin reverting the gender on transgender licenses.
