Massachusetts Transgender Inclusive Bill in Full Swing

According to a Berkshire Eagle article Massachusetts may become the first state in the country to offer its residents full marriage equality and transgender protections under law. The bills lead sponsor Senator Benjamin B. Downing of Pittsfield, believes he has a majority of legislative support established to insure its passage in the 2009 session but success is dependant on the bills co-sponsors steadfast resolve.

As usual there is the regular potty protesters. But as usual this argument "Carries No Water" (pun intended). Criminals are abhorrent of portraying any perceived vulnerability and cross dressing in the act of a felony would put that person in prison for a very long time where pedophiles and deviants are regarded as the lowest of life. As has been proven across the country in areas where gender protective laws are in place this is a more than adequent deterrent.

Buttars wrist slapped but status quo is maintained. For Now....

KSL.com video on side bar to the right>>>> > > > > > >

Utah Legislator Chris Buttars latest tirade against LGBT people cost him the chairmanship of the powerful Senate Judicial Committee. This action was confirmed by the ranking Senate Majority leader Waddoups in a public statement viewed by thousands via live Internet on 2-20-09.

Waddoups stated that the Buttars right to free speech will be honored but he was "freeing" Chris Buttars and the Judaical committee so that they may work without the burden of controversy. Waddoups also said by doing this Buttars would be free to pursue his political objectives in regards to LGBT rights issues.

When Waddoups was questioned whether this was considered punishment he responded it was not. When asked if this Censure of Buttars would preclude him from repeating as he has a history of doing, anti GLBT and racist tirades Waddoups responded "I am very bad at predicting the future". Waddoups like the rest of the politicians questioned did not indicate whether they are in agreement with Buttars regarding LBGT issues.

Waddoups attemped to conclude the meeting amid heated requests he clarify why Buttars was not at least removed from his seat on the Rules Committee if not removed completely from the Utah State Senate.

Buttars wrote in the Utah Senate Blog

"I was disappointed to learn of the Utah State Senate’s Censure on Feb. 20, 2009. However, this action will not discourage me from defending marriage from an increasingly vocal and radical segment of the homosexual community."

Buttars will essentially be free to "kill them all" as LGBT bills have to first come before the Rules Committee before moving on in the Senate.

Evidently we are "radical" because we will no longer accept being traumatized by the likes of Chris Buttars, but in Utah for now, the status quo is maintained.

transACTION Welcoming Transgender People to Faith

Press Release

New transgender education resource for churches from the Institute for Welcoming Resources

WASHINGTON, Feb. 13 — The Institute for Welcoming Resources (IWR), a program of the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force, today announced the release of transACTION, a new curriculum designed for churches and religious institutions to help congregants and members understand and welcome transgender persons into their congregations and faith settings.

“Too often transgender people looking for a place to worship can’t find one to call their spiritual home because most congregations and religious institutions are not ready to welcome them as their companions in faith,” says the Rev. Rebecca Voelkel, Institute for Welcoming Resources and faith work director of the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force. “Yet, many transgender people of faith are searching for the same things that other believers want: a loving community where worship and working for equality and justice are the focus of their faith experience.”

transACTION is designed to help churches and institutions address this issue of understanding and welcome by providing step-by-step training about the needs, apprehensions and fears of transgender people — as well as the wealth of gifts and graces they bring — while responding to the concerns of the church or religious institution.

The program can be used in three sessions: How Do We Get to Understanding, How Do We Get to Acceptance, and How Do We Get to Welcoming. All sessions include discussions and activities to go along with the information provided in the curriculum.

“We tried to make this a learning experience that would go beyond just the basics of gender identity and gender expression in order to give participants an understanding of the issues and concerns that transgender people have when trying to express their faith and spirituality in a church or any religious setting,” says Barbara Satin, author of the curriculum and a transgender advocate around issues of faith and aging.

transACTION is available for download from the Institute of Welcoming Resources Web site at www.welcomingresources.org. There are two versions of the program: a leader’s version and a participant’s version.

The mission of the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force is to build the grassroots power of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community. We do this by training activists, equipping state and local organizations with the skills needed to organize broad-based campaigns to defeat anti-LGBT referenda and advance pro-LGBT legislation, and building the organizational capacity of our movement. Our Policy Institute, the movement’s premier think tank, provides research and policy analysis to support the struggle for complete equality and to counter right-wing lies. As part of a broader social justice movement, we work to create a nation that respects the diversity of human expression and identity and creates opportunity for all. Headquartered in Washington, D.C., we also have offices in New York City, Los Angeles, Miami, Minneapolis and Cambridge.

Innocences in the Crossfire Utah Senator ''Chris Buttars Kills them All"

Chris Buttars "Kill Them All" full audio at NG Blog.

Human rights activist worldwide are incensed by Utah Senator Chris Buttars latest tirade extolling from his Senate position his racist transphobic and homophobic victories. Buttars rejoiced in recounting "killing em all" in referring to the "black underbelly Gay and Transgender" human rights legislation in Utah. Thrilling to be once again the focus of worldwide contempt and ostrization..... Buttars answer to people who are not exactly the same as he? Kill hope with imprisonment in a "Mormon Gulag." Thankfully the mormon gulag.com/ have been forced to shutdown.

According to wikipedia by Jewish, Muslim and Christian accounts Sodom and Gomorrah were two cities that were destroyed because of cruelty and lack of hospitality. Attributing Sexual orientation or gender identity to this ancient event has been a modern interpretation of key words such as "stranger". In the ancient script about Sodom and Gomorrah the word "homosexuality" is not found.

Buttars, a Mormon legislator from Utah incorrectly attributes the destruction of the ancient cities of Sodom and Gomorrah to LGBT people. He then says the end of humankind is due to homosexual people. With out concern for humanity or regard for others safety, Buttars joyfully once again has reminded us why the rest of the world despises him. . Buttars is living the reason god will smites evil. Buttars is the devil incarnate. Buttars: Gays 'greatest threat to America'

Innocence in the crossfire.

Buttars shames LDS Church

While it would be easy to beleive Buttars speaks for the entire Mormon Church, this is not the case. After Prop 8 was passed planetransgender was visited hundreds of times daily by Mormon parents. These are people who have been isolated and indoctrinated and intentionally misled by a "Church". People of faith that were incredulous anyone could dislike them in anyway. When thousands of people lined the streets to protest outside the LDS cathedral these parents became afraid and the Mormon church once again left them ignorant, misinformed and defensive in the company of strangers.....Placing Innocents in the crossfire.

Naked Teenage Breasts on Law and Order SUV

The story line. Man found beaten unconscious outside a shady strip club. Detectives discover a press on nail close by. The only logical reason for it's being there was a sleazy low life whore lost it while committing or witnessing so they immediately began investigating the clubs dancers, after all who else could that press on have belonged to?( not me I get them done at a salon, and cost $20. clearly not a 'press on')

I do however support our sisters when they have been discriminated against.

(thats me second from the left) the one with press on nails.

The detectives interviewing a pretty fully clad wasp soon discovered a flaw in a young woman's alibi, and confronted her with "what would your parents think" in hopes of dislodging the truth.
Of course she was not a whore, or kinda just a little whoreish. But this still does not solve the mystery because she was not large enough to have done the deed.

Now the show takes a nose dive to the garbage bin, or so it would seem....

Entering a room with the mother present the two detectives begin interview a dressing preteen who with shirt off defiantly answers the detectives inquiries. Lots of full frontal chest nudity. Copious gratuitous chest nudity. Camera backs off as the teen puts on a top and presto the detectives learned she is a transgender girl....

Our Question is.....?

Where would the transgression and immorality of strange adults entering a pre teens room while she was half naked become an issue for a mother? After the audience's curiosity as to what a transgender breast looked like? After the teen had shown enough femininity to satisfy the audience she was passable? Why not have her fully disrobed so the audience can make a determination about her genitalia? Is this question two "Deep" or would that be crossing your line of morality vs entertainment?

The mother clearly was knowledgeable of the teens gender expression why would she allow two strangers to see her half naked daughter without a lawyer about a felony?

Do the producers feel that offending transgender sensibilities such as offering half naked girls would be offset with the upturn in the shows plot when it began a sensitive and honest exploration of the most important aspects of transition?

Just a TV show? Ok but why is the nudity of this transgender girl ok? What would the repercussions be for a network if it broadcast a preteen cisgender female breast.

Remember Jackson's wardrobe malfunction.

This was a morality malfunction.

Trial dates have been set for the murder of Angie Zapata.

Trial dates have been set for the murder of Angie Zapata. The eight day trial begins on April 14, 2008 and takes place in Courtroom 11 of the Weld County Courts at 901 9th Ave in Greeley. We would like to provide as much community support to her family and friends as possible by packing the courthouse during those days. If you are interested in coordinating rides to Greeley from the Denver-Metro area, please contact Kelly Costello at 303-839-5204 or kelly@coavp.org.

Colorado Anti-Violence Program Announces Discussion, Meditation & Dinner to Prepare for Upcoming Murder Trial

SAVE THE DATES: March 18th & April 7th

CAVP staff feels it is important for all of us involved in the trial to do so from an intentional and loving space. We recognize that we are all emotionally impacted when people target the LGBTQ community with violence. These incidents often lead us to feel a heightened sense of fear and vulnerability. We may feel anger and hatred towards those responsible for such violence.

In an effort to support our community members in maintaining a positive and healthy emotional and mental space around the trial of Allen Ray Andrade, CAVP will be hosting two evenings of discussion, meditation and dinner. Discussion will be facilitated by CAVP staff and meditation by Marti Engelmann.

We encourage you to participate in BOTH sessions if:

- You are even slightly considering attending any trial dates
- You would like to find other ways to support people going to the trial
- You have any interest in participating in creating this type of space regardless of your involvement with this case.

When:
March 18th from 6-8:30 pm and April 7th from 6-8:30 pm

Where:
CAVP Office

What:
Discussion and meditation 6:00- 7:30. Dinner provided afterwards.

How:
RSVP to Crystal Middlestadt at crystal@coavp.org or 303-839-5204.

Include any dietary restrictions. Feel free to call Crystal with any questions you may have about this process.

Please consider the following questions under "Individual Preparation" before the meditation.

Individual preparation
- Identify 3 reasons why you are going? What is your intention?
- What do you expect to get from your time there, both personally and professionally?
- What will be your self-care plan? (Self-care needs to happen every day during trial)
- How will you eat healthy?
- What are you expecting CAVP to provide for self-care?
- How will you use what you learned during this experience?
- You're encouraged to journal during their time preparing for, during and after trial.

After the verdict these are the next steps:
- ALL come back together for a debriefing and meditation guided by Marti Engelmann.
- One session just for staff with an outside facilitator
- What were our lessons learned?

o 3 personal
o 3 professional
o How will we apply what we learned from this process?

Transgender Churches in Dallas Texas

Where are there transgender Churches in Dallas?

Last Updated 12/o7/2oo9

I have become aware that many people who visit planetransgender who are on a spiritual journey.

The inquiry, "Where are there transgender Churches in the Dallas Fort Worth Area (DFW)".

I will answer with questions and answers! First remember Gay Friendly Churches in Dallas Texas does not say "transgender friendly", since we are the change we want.

On the 23rd of August I become a member of Trinity Metropolitan Church, Arlington Texas. Words on this page can not do justice to the faith and fellowship that overflows our little church. I am living and growing in the grace of Trinity. I hope you may also find this abundance in your life.

If you need of a place of spiritual reparation as I am, some days I attend
Agape MCC in Fort Worth Texas. Agape offers communion with Christ in spirit and soul with open arms. The uniqueness of the strong southern Baptist flavour, country passion, Buddhist, Wicken, Pentecostal, Methodist, Evangelical, Episcopal (et) and a all Saints all ministers of the word communion leaves me with spiritual wellness. Remember Saints we are all ministers of the word of God. Go in peace.

MCC of Greater Dallas
has wonderful Pastoral leadership and attended by many of my transgender friends and family. You would need to attend every Sunday not to miss the diversity of worship.

Pathways, Southlake TX. I just happened to be there the Sunday that Transgender people were included in the Church's mission statement. Rev. Anthony Lorenzen (Rev. Tony) is one of the original faith leaders to join Dallas Transgender Advocates and Allies (DTAA). As a matter of fact he brought his entire congregation. Awesome validation when we were very young.

Since I am an impassioned advocate of inclusion of all people in the word of God I wander weekly. Some Churches are Gay, some straight, but all are Churches in states of transition who are leaving or joining GLBT welcoming and affirming ministry.. In movement. In Change.

Northaven United Methodist Church proclaims it's self fully inclusive and welcoming. In my Sundays their I was among many GLB brothers and sisters who belong to the RMN but my experience is, bring your coat of transgender advocacy, you may very well need it that Sunday.
I am a huge believer in the Methodist faith. It is the third largest denomination in the country and has many past presidents in it's membership. Inside the Methodist people is one common drive, to do no harm. That belief allows within it's very Methodist structure a OPEN dialogue. So now I a lay person authors with the finest minds in theology on the Reconciling Ministries Blog. That's right. Me a lay radical transgender left wing nut. Welcome.

The Universalist Unitarian faith is a full on motor of change. We have the First Unitarian Church of Dallas which was the first UU Church to become a LGBT welcoming congregation in the UU federation. I found this out by meeting Rev. Dr. Daniel Chesney Kanter at the National Freedom to Marry Day Dallas Texas Feb. 12 where he officiated the wedding. I asked Pastor Kanter what was it that brought him there. He said a email, just a email. During the ceremony in which he pronounced the couple Woman and Woman he acknowledged that within this joining was an understanding of the meaning and value of marriage, something some cisgender couples of opposite sex's have demonstrated to be unknowlegable of.

I have currently worshiped once, unannounced, at the St. Vincents Fort Worth which serves as the Cathedral of the Episcopal diocese of Fort Worth. Having been baptized and raised Episcopalian I was extremely apprehensive as I am clearly a transgender woman in a very Orthodox Episcopalian service. I was immediately welcomed and throughout the services felt the holy spirit in my soul. After partaking in Communion I departed with a very warm invitation to return by The Rev. Canon John W. Jordan.
However with the departure of the Ft Worth Episcopal Dioceses from the American Episcopal Church, to the Southern Cone because of perceived irreconcilable differences over the installment of Bishop Robinson, a openly gay man, and " other differences", and if you are not inclined to be a loving advocate in a potentialy divisive religious institution I would suggest visiting St Thomas The Doubter of Dallas Tx.

Links to connect with The Episcopal Diocese of Fort Worth (Episcopal Church USA).
Where all can you find the GLBT Friendly Episcopal Church in the Fort Worth Area?

Find The Episcopal Church on Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/episcopalian .
On Facebook, check out the videos, join the discussions, and be a part of The Episcopal Church.

Follow The Episcopal Church on Twitter: http://www.facebook.com/l/;twitter.com/iamepiscopalian. On Twitter, keep up-to-date and current with The Episcopal Church.

Don’t overlook the great videos of The Episcopal Church on YouTube: http://www.facebook.com/l/;www.youtube.com/TECtube

Join the growing numbers who are telling their stories by uploading a personal video on IamEpiscopalian: http://www.facebook.com/l/;www.iamepiscopalian.org/

It is a stalwart of Episcopal inclusive theology. Some would argue that it is progressive. I am curious, If Jesus proclaimed himself radically inclusive, Jesus is also very progressive. In my humble opinion St. Thomas is a good transgender Sunday destination. Again remember you may be called as a transgender person to be especially loving here.

planetransgender religious links that will wow you! And may contain that one Church you connect with. I am always looking for more(just curious;).

Transgender pilgrimage to Trinidad the Marci Bowers Saga Continues

Marci Bowers life and it's positive impact on a small western Colorado town has softly influenced residents perception of transgender people. Found high above the plains, Trinidad's tight knit community might have been perceived by most people as inaccessible physically if not also socially.

Many local residents now would offer a different opinion.

At one time the town's hospital was in jeopardy of becoming insolvent. The only large medical facility within hundreds of mile it's presence is invaluable. When Doctor Bowers began conducting SRS or Sexual Reassignment Surgery, the town met the new development with mixed reactions. Some where indifferent and some not knowing how to respond, highly critical. Soon however the reality that Dr. Bowers is a surgeon of high regard who's practice is bringing much needed revenue became readily apparent and appreciated.

An Intimate Portrait Of A Transgender Doctor's Life a multi part series found on Discovery Health's Transgender M.D.

Doctor Bowers positive effect is much more than surgical. Austin Texas is grateful for her contributions as this Docudrama benefited one of the premier Texas advocacy groups, Austin "TRINIDAD" Screening to Benefit (TENT) Transgender Education Network of Texas offers a real life look into transgender people, in both successes and failure. Real Humans. Real Life.

What has been transpiring across this mighty nation became slowly apparent in Trinidad Colorado. People first afraid, influenced with preconceptions painted by ignorance fueled by misinformation by transphobic groups slowly is being replaced with pride. Pride to be a center of courage. Pride to be unafraid to be different. Proud of there nabiours and the their local transgender affiliation.

What better way than a pilgrimage to Trinidad? The Saga continues.

National Freedom to Marry Day Dallas Texas Feb. 12

It's all about love.

Dallas Texas on February 12, 2009 a beautiful bride beaming with joy exits her Jaguar on a warm winter day. Not far her partner waits pride and anticipation flowing like sunshine from her.

The congregation enjoying the light breeze carrying the promise of happiness blessed the ring as Reverend Dr. Daniel Kanter of the First Unitarian Church of Dallas held it in the air for all. Reciting there vows to love and cherish Reverend Kanter pronounced our couple married in the eyes of the lord and blessed by all! Cheering we applauded as they shared a kiss sealing there fidelity. They then went into the county clerks office to ask the state to officially recognize there union.

The Clerk Said No. You see Kim and Rose are woman. While they are legally married in Canada, they are just strangers to the state of Texas.

Rose tearfully explained if her lifes love was on her death bed it would be within the rights of the hospital to deny her entrance to Kim's room.

Kim would not be able to hold the love of her life's hand as she died.

If Rose was to adopt children Kim could not become a legal guardian.

If Kim's child was sick at school Rose would not be allowed to take her home.

They are being denied 130 rights Heterosexual people are allowed by marriage.

As the couple explained it's all about being able to care for your family. It's all about love.

Source Gay Russia; Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender people are being forgotten by the very political parties that they had hoped would link them to the free world.

In a country where democratic liberties were tasted for a second like a waft of perfume, it passed threw the senses floating on a breeze that has since turned icy and forbidding.

Moscow Mayor Luzhkov has reiterated it is forbidden to conduct Gay Pride celebrations and members of the Moscow Dumas have stated it is treasonous to even speak (propaganda) of preventing STD or birth control by modern methods.

According to Gay Russia Luzhkoz said,
"He suggested that propaganda of the views of sexual minorities can be one of the factors in the expansion of HIV infection in the city."

Moscow Mayor stressed that “of course, we will be criticized by all democrats in the world but in the each society there are own views on that”.

Yes Mister Mayor you will be criticised and held accountable for the human suffering by all Democratic free societies.

"Free Queer Hugs!" Wellcomed With Open Arms!

LGBT Kiss In and Queer Hugs wellcomed with open arms.

Found in a article reported By JOANNA CATTANACH of the The Dallas Morning News "It was quite a display – just not one officials with the Dallas Museum of Art planned for."

"We have a right to express love just as much as everybody else," said Blake Wilkinson, founder of Queer LiberAction, whose group organized Saturday's "Queer Kiss-in."

What lengths am I as transgender woman willing to go to get a hug? Apparently I will stand on a sidewalk with a "Free Queer Hugs" sign. That would be a aberration from normality, until lately anyways.

Amazingly I got hugs! 10, 15 maybe 17.8 hugs per smile. Wow. Once in a while I was treated to a fellow Christian to a open conversation regarding homosexuality as

the Dallas Morning News story continues...

"One mother instructed her child to avert his eyes from the kiss-in participants. "Don't look at them," she said, grabbing and turning her son's head away. Others simply walked by, avoiding eye contact. One woman murmured, "It's twisted, very twisted." But another cited biblical principles, then exchanged hugs with a transgender activist, (thats me!) saying, "Hate the sin, not the sinner."

The good reporter was unaware of the calmness after we simultaneously found common ground agreeing Jesus has a plan for us and we are both loved by him in his radical inclusion. Then we hugged!

Maybe as the Morning News reported noted, this public display of affection was not planned on by Museum officials, but from the warmth and sincerity of the hugs I think it was welcomed, with open arms!

News From Californian "Mormon-gate."

The reoccurring theme in some of these stories is the facade the LDS maintains of innocence and victimization.

It reminds me of the news reporter who just happened to be in a woman's dressing room just after the passage of gender inclusive local ordinances. A man dressed in woman clothing bursts in, runs the length of the room invading the women's privacy. Reporter screams "Men in Woman's room" and files a report in hopes of substantiating the transphobic hatemongers ridiculous lies. Not long after the truth becomes apparent. Seems she kinda knew that man. Kinda very well as a matter of fact.

That story died down real fast.

Indeed the LDS is being "targeted" now if transparency of it's legal responsibility is "targeting".

And the Mormon Church should feel indignation that anyone should take exception to "we donated 0" statement when the tip of the iceberg is closer to a Quarter MILLION DOLLARS.

Perhaps the recognition is troublesome of being an individually responsible contributor to the first and hopefully last time equal rights were granted and then taken away from a minority in the United States of America.

Pehaps the LDS is worrying that someone might question what role it plays in deciding what constitutes excessive involvement by Church in State affairs. A intentionally vague and unambiguous boundary at best.

May the cloak of deception fall. Follow the link to Californians Against Hate.
