Against Me! Laura Jane Grace on being a trans roll model looks for the same from us. That's Punk.

Laura Jane Grace interviewed by Radio.com talks about the experience of breaking away from the security of recording under a major label to produce their own music again freely.

"We did our last two records on a major label and that experience towards the end felt like very stifling in that there were too many cooks in the kitchen trying to tell you how to do your art. So we really wanted the opposite experience with this record, having complete freedom to do what ever we wanted."

As a transgender journalist I of course focus on Laura Jane Grace's transition. It huge in the punk world but the reality is if Against Me! is to thrive there has to be more to the story.

Laura explains For years people focused on their recording with a major label calling Against Me! sell outs. Laura Jane explains "there will always be people like that, now the focus is on something else (for instance her trans identity)

On $10,000 dollars of her most precious guitars being stolen by a moving company "Theirs a special place in hell reserved for guitar thief's. Maybe one of us will earn a place in heaven if we find one of her guitars.



The video I recorded of Against Me! in 2012 3ft from the stage at The Dallas House of Blues. I had never been to a punk concert before that. The word "Punk" just carried too much negative baggage for me to even consider. But I've learned through Laura's transition is that Punk is transsexulism personified in sound in that the commonality we share with cisgender people searching for the same personal truths. Punk easily bridges our differences. Its Punk.

Shreveport transgender woman dares religious zealot councilman Ron Webb to stone her

The defining moment for transgender rights in Shreveport Louisiana came as Pamela Raintree audaciously challenged Councilman Web to stand up and throw the stone she offered.

On December 10, 2013, the Shreveport city council passed the non-discrimination ordinance by a 6-to-1 vote. The lone dissenting vote came from right-wing councilman Ron Webb, who said that he opposes the non-discrimination law because "The Bible tells you homosexuals are an abomination."

Less than two weeks after the fairness ordinance passed, Webb drafted a resolution to repeal it. This week, dozens of people signed up to make public comment at the city council's meeting to discuss the repeal measure.

One of them was Pamela Raintree, a transgender woman who quoted the Bible to Webb, saying, "Leviticus 20:13 states, 'If a man also lie with mankind as he lieth with a woman, they shall surely put him to death,'" she said. "I brought the first stone, Mr. Webb, in case that your Bible talk isn't just a smoke screen for personal prejudices."

Minutes later, Webb withdrew his resolution without calling for a vote.

LaBarbera is the leader of the "Americans for Truth About Homosexuality" which the Southern Poverty Law Center deemed a hate group

Federal Appeals Court rules transgender murderer will have publicly funded sexual reassignment surgery


BOSTON (AP) — A federal appeals court has upheld a judge’s ruling granting a taxpayer-funded sex change operation for a Massachusetts transgender inmate serving a life sentence for murder.

Michelle Kosilek was born male but has received hormone treatments and lives as a woman in an all-male prison. Kosilek was named Robert when convicted of killing his wife in 1990.

Kosilek sued the state Department of Correction after prison officials refused to grant her request for sex reassignment surgery. A federal judge ruled in 2012 the surgery is the “only adequate treatment” for Kosilek’s gender identity disorder.

Prison officials appealed the ruling to the 1st U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals. The court ruled Friday the 64-year-old Kosilek is entitled to the surgery.
Prison officials argued there are legitimate safety concerns over protecting her in prison if she has the surgery.





I know some will disagree with me but if that were you in prison how would you feel if you were denied medical care simply because someone felt you weren't entitled to it?

Belize Transgender woman's murder hate crime says family

El Guardian reports that police are investigating the January 12th murder of Joseph Sanchez, 18 as a robbery even though no money or personal items were taken as recorded by a video camera on a nearby school.
" Police found Sanchez motionless body on Elston Kerr Street, behind Gwen Lizarraga High School. He had a single stab wound to the chest. They’ve since reviewed camera footage of the attack which reveals that Sanchez was walking on the sidewalk when two men on bicycle rode up to him. He realized that the men intended to rob him, so he threw his phone away. At knife point, they frisked him, and he didn’t resist them in anyway. After taking what they wanted from him, the man with the knife inexplicably stabbed Sanchez in the chest. Investigators are puzzled as to why the assailants decided to murder Sanchez, since he cooperated completely."

That version is refuted by members off her family who say Sanchez has been afraid for her life after her boyfriend broke up with her. United Belize Advocacy Movement (UNIBAM) reports that:
"Sanchez’s family is disputing the police’s theory that his death is as the result of a robbery, however. They say that that theory does not hold water because his cell phone and money were not stolen. They believe that the well-known cross-dresser was killed simply because he liked to dress as a woman."

"She said that he had been receiving death threats, and had been told on several occasions that he would be killed."

" Abner Sanchez, Joe’s brother, said that his brother was frequently harassed and threatened because he dressed in women’s clothing."

"Abner said that when he saw his brother at the morgue, he saw marks on his hands and face which made him believe that Joe fought with his attackers. He believed his brother was lured out of their house, and that whoever did so intended to kill him. He said that his brother’s phone had been handed over to police."



One report states that she used to be picked up at her house by men who conspicuously  never walked with her. in public.

Belize human rights advocates recently challenged the constitutionality of the Belize anti sodomy lays which carries a 10 year imprisonment and outlaws entry of LGBT people into the country. That effort was defeated  thanks to the efforts of Scott Stirm, a Texas evangelical who rallied local churches to keep this law.

DA caught persecuting a transgender teen for defending herself may look for a non judicial resolution

Looks like a way out for the DA caught using his office to persecute a transgender teen for something that happens nearly every day in school yard somewhere in America.

After years of bullying and the schools inaction on confronting it Jewlyes Gutierrez, a transgender high school student finally snapped and struck back. The incident, where she was attacked by three students in the schools court yard gained national attention after a video cell phone video went viral.

After the fight all four girls were suspended and later made public apologies to each other, which in nearly all other cases would have meant a resolution was found.

But not in this case where a transgender student5 was involved.

 The DA decided to press assault charges against Ms. Gutierrez shocking her friends, family and even the District school board president. They all wanted to know why and a online petition was began by her sister. It now has now has over 138,00 signatures making it the fastest growing petition in California and quickly becoming one of the most signed petitions ever for Change.org.

Deputy District Attorney Daniel Cabral told the Times Hearld public pressure did not drive the discussions.

"Whenever cases are pending like this, the attorney and the district attorney meet and talk about ways of handling the matter," he said. "And that's what we're doing."

Cabral and deputy public defender Kaylie Simon said late Wednesday afternoon that they were considering enlisting the help of the National Center on Crime and Delinquency to possibly facilitate a "restorative justice circle" for all students involved, which would allow them to accept accountability for their roles in the bullying and the fight, and learn from the process. But they said they weren't sure whether charges would be dropped.

Nigerian Trans woman Iris Sahhara Henson on the new anti LGBT law "DIRTY HYPOCRITES!"

Expat transgender woman  Iris Sahhara Henson responded to Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan signing the draconian Sex Marriage (Prohibition) Bill 2013 into law only to become a target of hate.

The Act reads in part:

“A marriage contract or civil union entered into between persons of same sex: (a) is prohibited in Nigeria; and (b) shall not be recognized as entitled to the benefits of a valid marriage."
“The registration of gay clubs, societies and organizations, their sustenance, processions and meetings is prohibited."
“The public show of same sex amorous relationship directly or indirectly is prohibited.”
The Act also provides details of the sanctions awaiting the violators of the new law.
It adds: “A person who enters into a same sex marriage contract or civil union commits an offence and is liable on conviction to a term of 14 years imprisonment.
“A person who registers, operates or participates in gay clubs, societies and organizations directly or indirectly makes public show of dame sex amorous relationship in Nigeria commits an offence and is liable on conviction to a term of 10 years imprisonment.
Gay Star News is reporting 11 allegedly gay men have already been arrested.

Michael Douglas Mincing at the Golden Globes has gay people crying foul over "Dallas Buyers Club"??




Leto awarded for transphobia
How offensive is the word "Mincing" to gay folks? Honestly? I mean, Douglas use of it in his acceptance speech was in the context of self discovery and enlightenment over his own homophobia. Is it so offensive you would willingly let your're history be destroyed?

The question I'd really like answered is this.

 Why did it take Douglas's use of that word to finally get gay people talking about the transphobic nature of Leto's part in the "Dallas Buyers Guide"? After the ad nauseum interviews stroking Jared Leto for his "courage" in taking the part of a low life tranny hooker we finally get some recognition because of Douglas saying "Mincing"?

It wasn't Leto's acting, or his effort to portray my community, or even his acceptance speech that offended. It was the part he was handed in the Dallas Buyers Guide and the movies misinformation about the HIV/AIDs epidemic in the 80's that made us ill.

My friend Pamela Curry commented on one such article on Solon:

"As I have been saying the movie was an ugly affront to trans women. In reality there was no Trans woman that character was written in apparently for the transphobic jokes. I attended a showing with a friend Kelli Busey were afterwords she wrote "Dallas Transgender people ain't buying "Dallas Buyers Club".

 We were both disgusted by the movie full of ugly jokes about transwomen, inaccuracies regarding hiv medication. The character railed against AZT with boxes in the background labeled zidovudine, which is btw AZT!

 They were more interested in making fun of trans women than portraying accurately the true story, while purportedly telling a story based on a historic person."

It needs to be clear that this unverified story first published by raymondibrahim.com is not about a transgender person, but about a terrorist who purportedly donned woman's clothing to escape to Lebanon.

NYC Transgender woman charged with beating, starving and freezing 4 year to death


Transgender performance artist Kryzie King tortured 4-year-old Myls Dobson for two weeks — starving, beating, cutting and burning him — until Wednesday morning when he finally succumbed in the bathroom of her luxury Midtown high-rise, prosecutors said at King's arraignment Friday.

"She described watching Myls die right in front of her. He was slumped over in the bathtub," Assistant District Attorney Nicole Blumberg told the judge during King's arraignment in Manhattan Criminal Court on assault and reckless endangerment charges. Pico Rivera trans student Staceyy Holidayy suspended for act of gender rebellion

El Rancho high school student Staceyy Holidayy was suspended Wednesday after school officials determined that her top violated the schools dress code . The code which does not specify gender, states that "Tank tops, spaghetti straps, halter tops and low cut tops may not be worn. Bare midriffs may not be exposed."

Ms. Holidayy wore this top in hopes of exposing the schools non compliance with AB 1266 which remains in effect until such a time that the petition effort shows they have not duplicated a certain percentage of signatures. Until then the school is obliged to abide by the law which they contend they have.

Staceyy Holidayy says they are not, having left her no option but to use the teachers bathroom and the Nurses office to change for PE.

El Rancho Unified School District Superintendent Martin Galindo said although she was given a choice school officials decided it would be 'safer' for her to change for P.E. class in the nurse’s office and use the office’s restroom.

Galindo said she agreed to the arrangement, while Holidayy says she had no choice but to do so. “It made me feel bad and different using the nurse’s office,” she told The Whittier Daily News





Ballot Pedia update on the referendum effort: On January 8, it was announced by election officials that a random sample of the signatures indicated that if all the signatures were reviewed, 482,550 of them would be valid. That would be 95.6% of the required 504,760 and it would indicate an overall validity rate of 77.92%. This would be insufficient for the measure to qualify for the ballot. However, it is close enough to the required threshold that a process of individually checking each signature has been triggered. This process must be finished by election officials no later than February 24, 2014.

Demonstrators who interrupted "Road To Sochi" in Boston could be branded terrorists in Russia

The State Department has issued a travel warning for LGBT people who plan on attending the 2014 Russian winter games in Sochi.
In June 2013, Russia’s State Duma passed a law banning the “propaganda of nontraditional sexual relations” to minors. The U.S. government understands that this law applies to both Russian citizens and foreigners in Russia. Russian citizens found guilty of violating the law could face a fine of up to 100,000 rubles ($3,100). Foreign citizens face similar fines, up to 14 days in jail, and deportation. The law makes it a crime to promote LGBT equality in public, but lacks concrete legal definitions for key terms, and provides no clarity as to which actions will be interpreted by authorities as “LGBT propaganda.”

 The United States places great importance on the protection of human rights and fundamental freedoms of all people, including lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender persons, as well as anyone attending or participating in the Olympic and Paralympic Games. The U.S. calls on Russia to uphold its international commitments regarding freedom of assembly and association and freedom of expression, now and in the future.

Russia has in place what it calls a "Steel curtain" with thousands of troops enforcing their laws around Sochi. That includes the horrifically disempowering "gay propaganda" laws.



It would be fair to assume had this protest occurred near Sochi the participants would have been whisked away and not seen for days, if ever.

Transgender high school student Jewlyes Gutierrez stood her ground now faces battery charges

Hercules High school student Jewlyes Gutierrez retaliated after years of being bullied and now faces legal charges for defending herself.
The three girls who attacked including Gutierrez were suspended and latter made public apologies to each other. The school which ignored her initial complaints prior to the fight will be updating it's student guidelines this month, presumably to include gender identity.

The school's district president thought the fight which like the dozens of other fights on school grounds that occur yearly, had been properly handled and a resolution achieved.

But the District attorney does not agree and is pursuing battery charges against Gutierrez.



Charles Ramsey, the school district's president says that the District attorneys decision is "completely biased and absurd."

"There are fights that happen at school campuses every day. What's the real motive here?" he lashed out to the Daily News by phone Thursday.

Of the 21 years he's served on the school board, after previously serving as an attorney, he argues: "I've never seen something where a child has been bullied and, yeah, they did something inappropriate but the school dealt with it."
"They went through a period of apologizing to one another and then going back to school. And then the district attorney filed criminal charges? Wow," he said.

Ramsey said he praises the teen's bravery for turning the situation into a public discussion after bringing the charge's attention not just to the school board — which claims to have otherwise not realized what had been done — but to local media as well.

"This is just a young child who is 16-years-old, already going through a lot of stress," he said. "This is a remedy? Is this the way we want to deal with children?"

If you agree with the the Contra Costa school president and her friends and family that these charges should be dropped there is a petition you can sign.

Standing up for ones self in a fight is nothing compared to speaking about it in front of the school board as Jewlyes Gutierrez did.

Petition effort to repeal Cal Trans student inclusive law goes to next step

Filers like the one to the left posted in public school restrooms combined with the lies of the signature gathers drove enough people to sign a petition calling for a public vote on AB 1266. The petition fell short of the number of valid signatures needed to automatically force a vote.

Now each and every signature will now be checked for authenticity and if a certain amount are valid, AB 1266, the bill which levels the field for transgender California school children will be voted on.

Last week a court gave special privilege to the hate group sponsoring this drive and ruled that the signatures that were delivered after the post office closed on the cutoff date would be allowed, thus adding enough valid signatures to reach this point.

"Privacy for students" is rejoice  in demonizing trans student in their effort to force a vote on a law helping trans student succeed. But let it be known, gay and lesbian folks, if they succeed in this they will not stop.

San Antonio Transman Matthew Hileman files discrimination complaint against ATT

Hileman left his job as a consultant of AT&T in September. He says he had no other choice because two coworkers threatened him by posting a note on his chair after they discovered his secret gender identity (sic).

"Frankly it was a no smoking sign that said 'no fag'," said Justin Nichols, Hileman's lawyer. "And it was interpreted by my client as a direct threat," he added.

Now Hileman is making San Antonio history. His case is billed by his attorney as the first complaint filed under the non-discrimination ordinance.

Oneal Ron Morris South Florida Transgender "Fake butt doctor" begins serving sentence

Transgender woman Oneal Ron Morris turned herself in to serve a 365 day sentence for injecting peoples rear ends with a toxic mixture.

Morris escaped a possible 15 year sentence because police were unable to verify the contents of the injections due to the delays in reporting the crimes by the victims.

Morris will serve this sentence which may only be 6 months with time served but she still has to stand trial for manslaughter for injecting a person in Broward county.

Trans people are on a quest to live authentically, something that could never be done behind a mask. Sentiments like these were expressed by my friends over and over after I broached this subject yesterday after seeing this article at the Daily Mail which began with this:
With her long blonde locks, curvaceous figure and elfin features, 40-something Sherry is a woman few men would turn down. But there’s a catch. Sherry isn’t really a woman at all. Instead, she’s a retired property developer from California named Robert.

"Curvaceous figure and elfin features", "few men would turn down"? Really?

But, let me play the devils advocate for a moment and drop my trans privilege.

So it's perfectly acceptable for trans woman to wear breast forms and trans men to wear penis prosthesis but it's troubling, even weird when one wears a rubber body suit? After all, one of the major purveyors of these suits FemSkin is loaded with transgender links. Maybe there are already many trans identified people masking? And who am I to judge all of humankind transkind and cisgender?





My 2 cents? I believe in live and let live but for the life of me I do not understand what motivates people to do this. It also weirds me out. Sorry, guys but masks do that to me.

One friend commented that this pastime reminds her of autogynephilia that formally was the basis of the DSM prognosis of transsexualism:

 "Adult males who are sexually attracted to females, to both males and females, or to neither sex usually report a history of erotic arousal associated with the thought or image of oneself as a woman (termed autogynephilia).

The DSM V no longer includes Blanchard's abhorrent stigmatization of trans people due to our increased visibility and that's not something that could be accomplished behind a mask.

Or maybe perhaps social perceptions can be changed by someone behind a mask. The annual Rubber Doll World Rendezvous has an explicit set of rules that for the life of me appear focused on improving the worlds perception of "Masking". After all, Look what Anonymous is accomplishing and no they didn't 'weird' me out.

So are Living Dolls under the trans umbrella or just cis people engaging in harmless Cosplay?
